How to Say Commands
There are two steps to form an imperative:
Step 1: Add k-:
1. If the verb starts with w-, replace 'w' with 'k-'
2. If it starts with a vowel, add k-.
3. If it starts with a consonant, add ke-.
Step 2: If the verb ends in a long vowel, shorten it and add a glottal stop (').
Examples:
Wesii. Kesi'!
He drinks. Drink!
Ewuuw. Kewuuw!
He sees. Look!
Yip. Keyip!
He hears. Listen!
Wemaa. Kema'!
He eats (something mushy). Eat!
Negative Commands
To order someone not to do something, keep the imperative main verb and negate it with the imperative form of "umaaw", which is "kemaaw". The main verb takes the -h suffix, which replaces a glottal stop, if there is one.
Kema'! Eat! Kemah kemaaw! Don't eat!
Kaam! Go away! Kaamh kemaaw! Don't leave!
