Samuel Brown, also known as "Howka Sam", is an elder from Viejas who learned 'Iipay Aa as a child from his grandmother, a Mesa Grande speaker, and his father, who spoke the Los Conejos dialect. For many years he has been sharing his knowledge of the Kumeyaay language and culture online, and has created helpful language resources along with a treasure trove of both traditional and personal stories.
